Seafood Watch Guides:
To support sustainable fisheries, groups such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium,
the National Audubon Society and Environmental Defense have developed lists
as to what seafood is best to choose and best to avoid. These lists are based
on the latest information from fisheries scientists and managers, and
help people make informed choices as to what fish are best to eat that are not
overfished, endangered, poorly managed, and whose harvest may despoil the ocean's environment.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium has a Seafood Watch Page
where you can view a Seafood Watch Chart and/or download a pdf file of their Seafood Watch pocket guide.
The National Society's Living Oceans Program publishes a seafood guide called
"What's a Fish Lover to Eat?" that you can view online (published May-June 1998) or,
download the 2000 update as a pdf file.
Environmental Defense
lists what's best to choose and best to avoid.
