Dr. Ilona Rodan is the founder and hospital director of the Cat Care Clinic. She has over 25 years experience in veterinary medicine,
and has been practicing exclusively feline medicine since 1987. In 1995, she became one of the first American Board of Veterinary
Practitioners' Diplomates with a Specialty in Feline Practice. Over the past 3 years, she has devoted over 800 hours to advancing
her knowledge in the prevention and treatment of behavior problems, reading more than seven of the leading veterinary behavior books,
approximately 500 articles on feline behavior, and over 150 hours of continuing education in feline behavior since 2000, and was one
of few veterinarians to train at the Veterinary Post-Graduate Institute's Applied Behavior courses.
Dr. Ilona Rodan has been a strong influence both nationally and internationally in the fight to prevent feline behavior problems
in household cats and to enhance the relationship between people and pets. In 2000, she helped the American Association of Feline
Practitioners (AAFP) recognize the importance of feline behavior in the overall healthcare of pets. She has also helped develop a
4-day program specifically on Feline Behavior in 2002. In 2004, Dr. Rodan co-chaired the AAFP's Report on Feline Behavior Guidelines
in conjunction with Behaviorist, Dr. Karen Overall, which has been distributed and referred to throughout the United States.
She has supported the development of the first ever Kitten Socialization and Training class in the United States.
Dr. Rodan was awarded the 2005 Animal Welfare Award by the American Veterinary Medical Association, an organization of over 70,000 Veterinarians.
She was awarded this in part because of her work to improve feline healthcare through the prevention and treatment of behavior problems with cats.
Dr. Rodan is dedicated to feline pets and in enhancing the quality and length of life through complete prevention and treatment of medical
and behavioral problems in cats.
